First Pickleball Tournament? Here’s How to Get Ready for Monster Match
Know the Format and Rules
This is a round-robin tournament, which means every team in your group plays each other, as opposed to an elimination tournament, where you would be eliminated after a certain number of losses. You’ll get multiple matches, and every point adds up. Players are responsible for calling their own games (no line judges), so good sportsmanship is key. Check out the USA Pickleball rules here.
Quick Reminders:

Arrive at least 30 minutes early, and check in at the Osage Park pavilion. Staff will be there starting at 7:00 AM.

Bring your paddle. Game balls will be provided.

Get familiar with scoring and serving rules before match day.
Be Tournament Ready

Practice with your partner and agree on basic strategy.

Wear comfortable gear and court shoes.

Stay fueled and hydrated. Bring snacks and water, and check out Osage Park’s food trucks post-match.

Stretch and take breaks between games. It might be a full day of pickleball.
Costumes Welcome
One of the best parts of Monster Match? Costumes on the court! Dress up solo or with your partner. Just make sure your outfit doesn’t interfere with your paddle, vision, or movement.
There will be be prizes for best dressed, so bring the creativity.
